How can we help?

Find answers, learn how FolderStream works, move your library setup to another computer, or troubleshoot a problem.

Pro Activation

Bought FolderStream Pro? Activate your licence inside the app and get back into your library.

FAQs

Quick answers to common FolderStream questions.

Backup & Restore

Move your library setup to another computer and restore supported organisation data.

Getting started

Choose a folder that contains your videos. FolderStream reads that location and builds a visual library view around the files already stored on your computer or connected drives.

Once your library appears, you can browse thumbnails, use search and filters, save watch progress, and organise videos with tags, playlists, favourites, custom titles, and custom cover art.

Pro activation

Activate FolderStream Pro in a few simple steps.

How activation works

FolderStream Free and FolderStream Pro use the same app. You do not need a separate Pro download.

After you buy Pro, activation happens inside FolderStream using the purchase details sent to your email.

What to do next

  1. Finish your Pro purchase.
  2. Check your email for your receipt and licence details.
  3. Open FolderStream on your computer.
  4. Go to Settings > Licence.
  5. Enter your licence details and confirm activation.
  6. Once accepted, your Pro features should unlock in the app.

Need the checkout again?

If you have not purchased Pro yet, you can use the FolderStream Pro checkout here:

Buy FolderStream Pro

I bought Pro but have not received my email

Check your spam, junk, or promotions folder first. If it still has not arrived, contact support and include the email address you used at checkout.

My licence is not activating

Check for typing mistakes and make sure you are using the same purchase details sent after checkout. If it still does not work, contact support and include the exact message shown in FolderStream.

I changed computers or reinstalled Windows

Install FolderStream again, open Settings > Licence, and try your Pro licence on the new setup. If you also moved your library, the Backup & Restore guide will help with that part.

Do I need a separate Pro installer?

No. Pro unlocks inside the regular FolderStream app after activation.

Frequently asked questions

Quick answers for common tasks.

Can I move my FolderStream library to another computer?

Yes. You can create a FolderStream backup and restore your supported library organisation on another computer. Your original video files are not included in that backup, so they must also be copied, connected, or otherwise available on the new computer. If folder or drive locations change, you may need to reconnect them in FolderStream.

Does FolderStream copy or upload my videos?

No. FolderStream is designed around local folders and connected drives selected by you. It does not upload your videos to a cloud service.

What does a FolderStream backup include?

FolderStream backups are for supported FolderStream library information and organisation data, not the original video files themselves.

Can I use videos stored on an external drive?

Yes. FolderStream can work with user-selected folders on connected drives. The drive must be connected for those video files to play.

Troubleshooting

Start with the most common causes.

I restored my backup on another computer but FolderStream can’t find my videos

What you’re seeing: your tags, playlists, or other FolderStream organisation may have restored, but videos are unavailable or marked as missing.

Why it may happen: the original video files were not copied to the new computer, the external drive is not connected, the drive letter changed, the folder path changed, or the videos were moved somewhere else.

What to try: confirm the original files exist in File Explorer, connect the external drive if needed, check the current folder or drive location, then reconnect or reselect the relevant library folder in FolderStream.

A connected drive is missing

If videos live on an external drive, reconnect that drive before trying to play them. Library organisation may still appear even while the original files are unavailable.
